A Good Jacket Is A Good Thing!

So I've been in the market for a good blazer. After traveling in Barcelona last year with a good friend who wore his sports coat everywhere, I realized that he knew what was what! When the evening got cold, he lifted the collar and wrapped his coat tight about him, and when we were in museums or restaurants, he was able to "blend" very well with a smart outfit on at all times. This was the "look" I wanted to know better!

I finally found a sports coat at the local thrift store. It fits well and is in good shape. It's light weight and should travel fairly well. Of course, being from the thrift store it has some moth holes in it already, but what are you gonna do for $6.99?

One thing that I'd love to find is a newly designed / created sports coat. It should be gortex or something similar. A material that will "breath" and remain weather proof. I'd like it to look as much like a sports coat as possible so I could wear it into an upscale restaurant but would like to be able to wear it in inclement weather as a shell. I'd like it to roll up into a backpack and come out with a minimal amount of wrinkles. I'd pay handsomely for this jacket, but I've yet to see one. I have noticed, however, that whenever I enquire about such a jacket in "adventure travel" stores, all of the male clerks say ... "Yes, that would be nice wouldn't it?" and then get a far away look as they imagine owning such a smart jacket of their own!
