So most of the people I've spoken with in the last few days seem pretty convinced that I'm not trying to give up my current lifestyle and heading off into the world with a backpack and a 'puter and nothing much else. Why is that? Do I have a history as a liar or someone who doesn't follow through on hair-brained ideas ... or is it that people get a little nervous when you start to do something out of the ordinary? I think the main reason is nervousness! I think the majority of people I've spoken with recently want to believe that I'm not going to follow through with my plan because the next obvious question for them is "Why am I not doing this too???"
Now, the truth of the matter is that this life change isn't the right choice for most people. Most people would not want to live this way so it wouldn't make much sense for them to get wrapped up in questioning why I would. It would probably be easier to just accept that I'm choosing to do this for now, I don't need your approval or consent, I just want to share what I'm doing and hope it either inspires you to try something a little out of the ordinary or at least gives you a glimpse into another way to live. But who knows, maybe I am just crazy and I'm dragging my spouse away from her career and life and we're going to travel for nine months and then decide we'd rather be in one place for the rest of our lives ... hmmmmm ... nah!!!!!

It will be the best nine months of your life! Fantastic! Good luck. :)
Thanks. I hope so ... I also kinda hope it lasts a few more months than that! ;)
With the response we've gotten from friends and family around the world suggesting we visit them ... I think we have destinations around the world for the next 4 years or so!
There will always be naysayers no matter what you do. Tune them out, they are jealous. Have a blast!
I'm sure there will be times when you will be home sick for say, that dim sum on Geary, but probably will still be here if you decide to come back!
I once had a brief longing to give away all my worldly goods and live a simple life as a Tibetan Monk. But that dream died. So I'm glad someone I know gets to live out theirs!!!
Love this travel journal on the net- will be fun to see all the pics and read the stories. Hope you get to see some new places as well!
